One Year Ago...

March 20 2008 Hallie had her spleen and gallbladder removed..it was a 9 hour surgery and I can honestly say that was the most stressful in all my 30 years. Then of course, she had complications, so what was supposed to be a 4 day hospital stay turned into 2 weeks of anxiety and frustration, the Dr's did not really know what was wrong, and I was 4 months pregnant..it was a rough time for all of us...but what does not kill us makes us stronger and we made it through! A year later and you would never even know Hallie had an operation, the scars have faded, and the surgeon told Doug she would be able to wear a bikini when she is older and can pierce her bellybutton if she wants to cover the incision that was there...haha..he was not impressed!

This was right after she came up from recovery, she was doped up on morphine so she was feeling no pain..at one point she woke up and asked where the man went with the basket???

She was alert after the first 48 hours, they took her off the morphine and she wanted to see what her belly looked like, that is actually an Ariel band aid over her belly button

The whole time we were in the hospital, we saved our roll up the rim cups for Hallie to roll up when she got home. Doug drank a ton of coffee and visitors donated their cups, I think we had 80 some at the end, sad enough, in 80 cups we only won 10 prizes and they were only free coffees and donuts...

Its finally spring! I'm going to do some spring cleaning this weekend and maybe do some shopping to help the Easter bunny out!
Have a good one!

  1. What a brave girl Hallie was! That must have been an unimaginably tough time your you! I had a very miserable pregnancy, but cant imagine adding surgery of older child to the mix! Hope everyone is happy and healthy now! Cheers
